Ordering Plant Materials from Foundation Plant Services

In March 2024, Foundation Plant Services (FPS) transitioned to an online ordering system. This process replaces the paper/PDF order forms that were previously used. Orders can be entered and tracked by customers using this online system.

The online system provides a way to:
  • place orders for plant material and receive feedback regarding availability.
  • track orders from order placement to tracking shipping.
  • make payments of invoices online.

What are the Requirements?

During the account creation process, you will be prompted to download the Blanket Grower Agreement form. This document must be signed and returned to FPS prior to placing an order. The Blanket Grower Agreement is a legally-binding document which constitutes the contract between the customer and FPS and, for grape and fruit tree materials only, includes your agreement to pay FPS user fees on any propagations made from FPS materials.

If you are unable to submit an order using the online portal, please contact us at 530.752.3590 or [email protected] for an order form that can be filled out by hand.

Prices

Because of the high cost of maintaining a specialized collection of premium disease-tested materials, you will notice that prices for FPS material are higher than material that can be obtained from commercial nurseries. Minimum order charges are set for each crop to enable FPS to recover base-level administrative and processing costs which are incurred even for very small orders.

Allocation Deadlines & Policies

Most FPS distribution of individual cuttings, plants and seeds are limited to a particular season of the year so it is very important to submit your order prior to the ordering deadline for each crop group. Due to the limited quantity of most FPS propagation material a missed deadline may result in having to wait until the following season to receive material. Available propagating material is allocated among all whose orders are confirmed prior to the allocation deadline for each commodity type. Orders received after an allocation deadline is considered on a first-come, first-served basis after all orders received on time have been filled, if any material still remains.
