Source Trousseau FPS 02, originally from a vineyard of the Department of Viticulture & Enology, University of California, Davis
Comments The original material for this selection originally came to Foundation Plant Services around 1961 from the vineyard of the Department of Viticulture & Enology at the University of California, Davis (location J126 v6). The Trousseau plant material was subjected to heat treatment for 168 days upon its arrival at FPS. After successful completion of testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program, this selection was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 1965 under the name Trousseau 02 (FPS group 1330). In 1995, tests on the Trousseau 02 vines revealed that the vines had leafroll virus. Trousseau 02 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture disease elimination therapy at FPS in 2007. The treated selection was released in 2011 as Trousseau 03. Trousseau 03 has successfully completed testing to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it was planted in 2012 as Trousseau 03.1.

Source Bastardo FPS 01, which came from Portugal
Comments This selection was imported to Foundation Plant Services in 1984 from the Regua Agricultural Station in the Douro region of Portugal. The original material underwent heat treatment for 108 days and also underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS prior to 2000. The treated plant material successfully completed testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program and was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2000. The name of the selection was changed in 2003 from Bastardo 01 to Trousseau 10 because Trousseau is more recognizable internationally and the name Bastardo was phased out by the TTB. Trousseau 10 has qualifed for planting in the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it was established in 2011 as Trousseau 10.1.

Source Former UC Foothill Experiment Station via vineyard of Department of Viticulture & Enology at UC Davis
Comments This selection originated from a source vine planted at location H9 v1 in the vineyard of the former UC Foothill Experiment Station near Jackson, California – the plant material was identified as Marzemino in the Experiment Station vineyard. The untreated version of the plant material was planted in a vineyard of the Department of Viticulture & Enology at UC Davis (TYR R103 v24). The original material underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at Foundation Plant Services in 2009. The treated material successfully completed testing in 2013 to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it was planted as Marzemino FPS 02.1. DNA analysis at FPS in 2015 revealed the true identity of the selection as Trousseau, and the selection was renamed Trousseau FPS 11.1.
